What You Consume May Be Consuming You. Everything we think we “need” is a button away. Think about that. Everything we think we “need” is a button away. Groceries. Click…They’re at your door within 2 hours. Entertainment. Click…You’re a second away from spending 3 hours on social media. Food. Click…You’ve got 2 large pizzas for the price of 1 within 30 minutes. Clothes. Click…Your new wardrobe will be at your home within 2-5 days. Health and fitness…Cli…errr, wait – where is this going? 😂 Herein lies the problem. Consumption. We’re juggernauts of consumption but we don’t understand nourishment. We want a better quality of life, but we want it easy and instantaneous. We’ll jump on every fitness challenge or fad diet but we lack the education for sustainability. The truth is, the best things in life require work, commitment, connection and purpose. Right now, the U.S. adult obesity rate stands at 42.4 percent. 34.2 million Americans—just over 1 in 10—have diabetes. 88 million American adults—approximately 1 in 3—have prediabetes. About 655,000 Americans die from heart disease each year—that’s 1 in every 4 deaths. These diseases, for the most part can be prevented or managed by adopting a healthy lifestyle, moving and exercising more, paying attention to what we’re eating, how we’re eating etc. But we’re being groomed to consume and not understand the mind, body, soul connection. We think we’re being replenished but we’re actually being depleted. So, Consume less. Nourish more.
